The (HealthWay) systems are able to trap and kill airborne organisms, which is most beneficial to our patients and staff working in the ICU setting.
In recent years, mounting scientific evidence has indicated that indoor air can be more seriously polluted than outdoor air in even the largest and most industrialised cities, according to the US Environmental Protection Agency (EPA). EPA also pointed to other research showing that people spend about 90 per cent of their time indoors, resulting in possibly greater risks to health from exposure to air pollution indoors than outdoors.
This issue affects not only homes, but offices and particularly hospitals as well. Recently, Parkway Holdings Limited’s Mount Elizabeth Hospital was the first hospital in Singapore to deploy HealthWay EMF Air Purification Systems after successful testing in its Neonatal Intensive Care Unit for elimination of small airborne particle matter and volatile organic compounds.
The HealthWay EMF Air Purification Systems have been tested by the National Indoor Environmental Quality Research and Innovation in the US to achieve 99.99 per cent efficiency
in the elimination of all virus-sized airborne contaminants, according to IEQ Global Pte Ltd, which distributes the systems in Singapore.
In other words, the HealthWay systems are certified to eliminate all virus-sized airborne contaminants, including H1N1, SARS and Avian Flu, by breaking down the molecular structures of virus molecules to render them inert, thereby destroying the virus completely.
IEQ did a comprehensive test of the systems for Mount Elizabeth Hospital before deploying them. The (HealthWay) systems are able to trap and kill airborne organisms, which is most beneficial to our patients and staff working in the ICU setting, Sim Tian Seng, Parkway’s chief infection control officer, said.
Unlike most conventional filtering systems, EMF filters not only trap airborne particles, but are also tested and proven to kill up to 100 per cent of viruses, bacteria, mould and fungi, accord- ing to IEQ. This is achieved through the patented revolutionary system, which is able to create a high energy field that raises the media filter’s efficiency to 99.99 per cent at 0.3 microns, surpassing all other types of filtration, IEQ said.
The HealthWay EMF Air Purification Systems come in three different models. HealthWay EMF Model-03 is a top-of-the-line model that is suitable for areas of about 1,000 square feet (about 92.9 square metres). It is best used in living rooms, offices, corridors of hotel guest rooms, six-bed wards, intensive care units (ICUs), as well as for indoor areas with odour issues requiring instant air treatment.
HealthWay EMF SOHO is a smaller-sized variant of Health- Way EMF Model-03, catering to smaller areas of 300 square feet to 1,000 square feet. It is suitable for areas with space constraints bedrooms, clinic consultation rooms, two-bed hospital wards, hotel guest rooms, small offices, home offices and such.
HealthWay EMF Ceiling Model is a ceiling mounted unit designed to fit perfectly in a standard 2 by 2 ceiling tile format. Exceptionally quiet with an optional deodorising feature, it is suitable for use in larger areas of about 2,000 square feet, such as offices, lobbies, function rooms and conference rooms.
