The requirement to illuminate high ceiling structures had an added dimension of complexity due to the nature of business. The building owners manufacture and store highly flammable liquid chemicals. Any electrical fault that could result in chemical fires were not tolerated. The objective to save lighting energy costs without compromising safety was addressed by a combination of energy efficient lights that are designed for safety and use in highly volatile environments.
