This airport has and continues to serve as the major air transportation hub in South Asia.  With four passenger terminals serving over 42 million people in 2010, the need for energy cost reduction has never been greater.  Based on Singapore Standards, the lighting in significant parts of the common areas, including offices and service areas have been replaced with environmentally sustainable energy saving alternatives.  The extensive use of the world’s most energy efficient lighting has resulted in reduced energy consumption for lighting and air conditioning.
