LED: Conservation House, Singapore
Built in the 1920′s, the row of terraced shop houses along this road were homes to wealthy merchants of that period. Based on Peranakan (Straits Chinese) designs, popular in Singapore and Malaysia in the early 1900′s, this house and its neighbors have been gazetted for conservation as Heritage Houses in 1991. It has since been painstakingly restored to its original glory, incorporating a modern twist. The use of energy efficient lighting has enabled the key design features to be highlighted subtly.
