LED: Luxury Hotel, NZ
Built in 1920, this building is the former Farmers Building in Auckland, famed nationwide as the most established departmental store. Designed in the Bauhaus style, its original design intentions are maintained in most parts of the restored hotel, with the exception of some area such as the main lobby, renovated with a modern contemporary outlook within the last 10 years. The innovative use of energy efficient lighting has enabled the designed features, both old and new to be brought to the forefront. The hotel has been Earthcheck benchmarked for energy saving and sustainable management and practices, as well as Qualmark Green EnviroGold accredited for environmentally responsible tourism practices.
